V C Briganti cycling was named after the Brigante Tribe

The Brigantes were a tribe of British Celts who in pre-Roman times inhabiting almost all of the area that would become Northern England and a significant part of the Midlands. The name of the tribe springs from the Celtic goddess Brigantia.

At the time of the Roman invasion in 43 AD the Brigantes were arguably the most powerful Celtic tribe in Britain.

V C Briganti is made up of cyclists from County Durham.
