A circuit taking in the Rookhope valley to Allenheads along the East Allen
valley to Allendale and on to the market town of Hexham with its medieval abbey. Passing through the ancient Roman
town of Corbridge and on to the beautiful village of Blanchland with its
many ghosts. Returning over the grouse moors to Crawleyside and Stanhope

climbs in the North Pennines.

Edmundbyers & Blanchland
Steep and long climbs over the moors
Distance 46 miles
Starting with the climb of Crawleyside and over the
grouse moors to the picturesque village of Edmundbyers along the side of
Derwent Reservoir and on to the beautiful historic village of Blanchland. On
through Huntstanworth village to Rookhope, Allenheads, Coalcleugh and
the wear valley to Stanhope.

A picturesque circuit climbing out of Weardale over
Swinhope Moor descending into Newbiggin and on to
Middleton in Teesdale. Leaving Middleton to Egglestone and over the moors to
Wolsingham via Hamsterley Forest, Returning via Frosterley and the country lanes to Stanhope |

A route cycling in the picturesque West and East
Allen Dales starts by the accent of Wolfcleugh Common and into
Allendale in the East Allen valley. Over the Tops to Bearsbridge and down
the West Allen valley
to Coalcleugh. On to Allenheads and a long climb over Allendale
Park and down to Cowshill, returning to Stanhope via the Wear valley. |
